Having served bauchi state meritoriously for this period in 1981 he left the services of bauchi state government and was appointed the managing director of fulani construction company at gombe. This was a privately owned building and civil engineering construction company and was involved in the constrution of dadin kowa secondary school, now a polytechnic institution, tula secondary school,. College of education gombe and various other housing projects for both government, private organisations and individuals.
In pursuance of his objectives to practice and having left fulani construction company on a clean slate, he joined the services of ella waziri associates as a senior architect late in 1982. During this period he was involved in design and ocnstruction supervision of several projects which includes:-
• The present katsina polytecnic
• Multi-purpose office accommodation for fcda with 60,000 square meters office space.
• The present medical college at maiduguri university and the medical hostels.
• Proposal for market development at bauchi
• Development of benue hotels.
• Bank of the north headquarters, kano
• Magwan water restaurant and hotel complex, kano
• Various other schools, clinics and housing projects.
Having attained this period of work profile and acquired tremendous experience in his chosen career, architecture, in the year 1985 he established and architectural practice known as environmental design consortium which later metamorphosed to coplan associates. During this period he was involved with the design and project management of the following projects.
• Housing complex for the special vehicle plant for defence industries, federal ministry of defence at bauchi.
• Industrial training fund, zonal offices and training centers at kano nad aba.
• Various private organisations and individual housing and office buildings.
While pursuing his object of architectural excellence and standard his native state saw in him the potentials of good leadership and to tap from his fountain of experience and knowledge, in february 1986 he was appointed the honourable commissioner of agriculture with the kaduna state government, where he served for a period of three years. During this period he was involved with the policy development and administration of agriculture in the state among various projects he executed in the includes state agricultural development project (kadp), a world bank assisted programme which contributed immensely in the transformation of the state as a major food basket for nigerian nad the west african region in general. He also developed the strategic grain reserve (sgr) facilities and forestry development and reserve projects which were implemented as a major contributory factors for the arrest of desertification in nigeria. In 1987 when the commodity boards were dissolved, in order to ensure continuous cotton production in the state he organised a special programme for improved cotton production in the state with great success to the extend that additional ginneries were established both by government and the private sector in order to accommodate the high level of improvement in cotton production such that excesses were being exported overseas.
In 1988 he was re-assigned to the state ministry of works. Transport and housing as the honourable commissioner for works. Transport and housing. During his tenure in the ministry of works. He ensured the implementation of adequate maintenance culture for both offices, residential accommodation and roads in addition to the provision of new utility accommodation and general infrastructure this includes water and electricity supply in the state.
In this regard he concluded the kaduna metropolitan expaned water supply scheme andinitiated the implementationof the world bank assisted first multi-state water supply project. Which has today resulted in the improved provision of portable water supply to ikara, kagoro, kwoi, marwa and their environs in the present kaduna state nad funtua, malumfashi nad katsina in the present katsina state. The beneficiary population of this scheme today is over 3 million people.
As an initiator and concerned patriot, he also initiated the kaduna state 99 towns electricity project, due to the fact that in 1988 only three towns were connected to the national grid, kaduna, zaria and kafanchan. Today with the sucessful implementaiton of the project kaduna state has over 70 towns connected to the national grid (power supply).
Having attained the objective to which he was appointed in 1990 arc. Sambo decided to leave the service of kaduna state governement in order to go back to his career in architectural practice, since then he hs been practicing architecture with his head office in kaduna.
Among various projects his firm has executed are the development of the national olypic sports complex in abuja since 1993 and are currently the construction supervising consultants for the indoor sports hall and the infranstructural facilities for the games village.
